Edit Pose

In VCam, you can create a pose by moving your avatar’s joints and expressions, then play it as a motion or export it to a VRMA file. This feature isn’t in VCam2D.

Choose Model > “Edit Pose” in the menu to open the editor. It edits the avatar that’s currently loaded.

Click the sphere shown on a joint of the avatar, or select a joint in the “Bones” list on the right. The spheres for the eyes and jaw appear only while they’re selected, so select those from the list.

Select a joint and drag its rings to rotate it. To adjust it with numbers, enter values in “Rotation” below the list.

You can drag the hips, head, elbows, knees, hands, and feet to move them. These joints are marked in the list. When you select one, it’s ready to move. Drag it, and the connected joints rotate automatically to form the pose. For example, pulling a hand rotates the shoulder, upper arm, and forearm. The joints that rotate are listed below the list. To rotate the joint instead, press E or switch to “Rotate” in the editor.

Pulling a hand or foot replaces the rotations you set on the shoulder, arm, or leg. The recommended order is to place the hands and feet first, adjust with the elbows and knees, and rotate the wrists and fingers last.

When you move the hips, “Keep Feet Planted” sets how they move. When it’s on, the feet stay in place and the legs bend. When it’s off, the whole body moves.

  • W: Move the position (“Move”)
  • E: Rotate (“Rotate”)
  • F, or double-click: Frame the selected joint
  • Delete: Return the selected joint to its original pose
  • ⌘Z / ⌘⇧Z: Undo / Redo

To return a joint you moved to its original pose, use the reset button in its row in the list. “Reset Pose” in the list header returns all joints. “Reset Pose” in the window toolbar returns both the joints and expressions.

  • Option-drag: Orbit around the avatar
  • Shift-drag: Move up, down, left, or right
  • Scroll or pinch: Zoom in or out

Switch to the “Expressions” tab to show the model’s expressions as sliders. Use a slider to set the strength of an expression (0–100%). You can combine them freely. To return an expression to normal, click the reset button in its row, or click “Reset expressions” in the header.

Click “Apply to Avatar” to make the avatar in the main window take the pose. The head, hands, and fingers follow tracking. When you close the editor, the avatar leaves the pose.

The supported models are the same as for VRMA files. For details, see “Supported Models”.

  • “Add to Motions”: Adds the pose to “Custom (.vrma)” in the motion list. You can play it from the toolbar or a shortcut
  • “Export VRMA”: Saves the pose as a VRM animation (.vrma) file. You can play it in VCam and other apps

For either one, enter a name and “Hold (seconds)”, then click “Add” or “Export”. The hold time is how long the pose is held when it plays.

A pose added to motions has Play as a Still Pose turned on.

Even after you close the editor, it returns to the pose you were editing when you open it again with the same avatar, until you quit VCam.

In the “Motion” list, right-click a still pose and choose “Edit” to open it in the editor. Click “Save” to overwrite it, keeping its name and settings. Shortcuts that use it keep working.

If the original motion has movement, “Add as New Pose” appears instead of “Save”. The original motion is kept, and the edited pose is added to the list as a new entry.
