Known Issues

If you find an issue that isn’t listed here, report it through “Contact” on the VCam website. Common problems are covered in the FAQ.

Current Versions (VCam 0.13 and Later, VCam2D)

  • Connecting a microphone such as AirPods while VCam is running may stop lip sync from working
    • Workaround: After connecting the microphone, choose the lip sync method again, or restart VCam.
  • Expressions such as smiles aren’t estimated very accurately
    • Workaround: If you get expressions you don’t intend, turn off “Use emotion by Mic or Camera” in the “Experiment” tab, and switch expressions with the expression buttons or shortcuts.
  • Combining an expression button with blinking or lip sync distorts the expression (VCam)
    • Workaround: When you make the blend shapes in the VRM file, make sure A and Blink don’t distort when combined with other expressions.
  • The video flickers in Zoom
    • Workaround: Lower “FPS (screen)” in the “Rendering” tab or “FPS (tracking)” in the “Tracking” tab. Tracking or screen updates may not be keeping up.
  • In VCam 0.15.0, installing the virtual camera fails with “extension category returned error”
    • Workaround: Update to the latest version. The virtual camera in 0.15.0 is misconfigured, so new installations and reinstallations fail. Existing installations aren’t affected.
