Motions and Expressions
With the toolbar to the left of the preview, you can play motions on your avatar, switch its expressions, and show emoji. You can also combine the same operations into a shortcut and run them with a button or key.
Playing Motions
Section titled “Playing Motions”Click the figure icon in the toolbar to open the “Motion” list. Click a motion to start playing it, and click it again to stop. The motion that’s playing is highlighted.
You can also open the list in its own window. Click the window icon at the top right.
In VCam2D, the repeat button to the right of a built-in motion turns loop playback on or off.
Loading VRMA Files
Section titled “Loading VRMA Files”You can load VRM animations (.vrma) and play them as motions. This is only in VCam.
- In the “Motion” list, click “Load Motion” under “Custom (.vrma)” and choose a VRMA file.
- Set the following items, then click “Load Motion”:
- “Motion Name”: The name shown in the list
- “Translation”: The directions (X, Y, and Z) in which the body movement in the motion is applied. The avatar doesn’t move in directions you turn off
- “Loop Playback”: When this is on, the motion repeats until you stop it
- “Play as a still pose”: See Play as a Still Pose below
Loaded motions appear under “Custom (.vrma)”. Right-click a motion and choose “Settings” to change these items later, or choose “Delete” to remove it from the list. Drag motions to reorder them, and use the repeat button to the right of each one to turn loop playback on or off.
While a VRMA plays, the body follows the motion. The eyes, blinking, mouth, and expressions follow tracking while it captures them, and follow the expressions in the motion when it doesn’t.
MMD Motions (VMD)
Section titled “MMD Motions (VMD)”In step 1, you can also choose an MMD motion (.vmd). A VMD is converted to VRMA when it’s loaded, and then plays just like a VRMA. VMD files with only camera or lighting motion can’t be loaded.
The distributor’s terms decide how you may use a motion. Many motions can’t be used outside MMD or for monetized content such as streams, so check the terms before you load one.
Play as a Still Pose
Section titled “Play as a Still Pose”When this is on, the avatar holds the pose from the motion, and only the head, hands, and fingers follow tracking. This is useful when you want to add your face direction and hand movement on top of a pose.
To open a motion set as a still pose in Edit Pose, right-click it and choose “Edit”.
Supported Models
Section titled “Supported Models”You can play VRMA files on VRM 1.0 models, and on VRM 0.x models loaded with “Convert VRM 0.x to VRM 1.x” turned on. This setting is in General Settings.
If “To play a VRMA, this model must be reloaded as VRM 1.0 using automatic conversion.” appears, turn on the setting and load the model again.
Switching Expressions
Section titled “Switching Expressions”Click the face icon in the toolbar to show the model’s expressions as buttons. Click a button to switch to that expression, and click it again to return to normal. For a model without expressions, the icon can’t be clicked.
You can also open the expression list in its own window with the icon at the top right.
Showing Emoji
Section titled “Showing Emoji”Click 👍 in the toolbar and choose an emoji. The emoji appears on the screen for a few seconds. To choose an emoji that isn’t in the list, use the face icon at the end.
